Updated Hours for Hale Pet Door

Good morning to all our dealers on this cold, snowy morning. Hope the weather is nice wherever you are.

We just wanted to let you know of a change that we hope will serve you better. We have decided to extend our business hours to cover more days and more hours each day. We are now open Monday through Thursday 6:30 am to 5:30 pm (MT), Friday 6:30 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. This covers all the time zones in the continental US during the majority of their business hours and helps out the dealers who are also open on Saturdays. There will be someone in the office answering the phones and emails, processing orders, etc. during these hours. However, we do have limited staffing so if your call goes to voicemail, we are probably on another line and will call you back as soon as possible. We will also have some limited factory production on Saturdays now so that rush orders as well as other orders can be processed sooner.

We continue to strive to make changes to better serve you and your customers so please let us know any feedback on our services or products that can make your lives easier.

Update about Installation Packets

Just a quick update about the drill bits in our packets for our pet door installations. We have learned that most of our dealers and many of our customers were not using the drill bits and were throwing them away. Most of the dealers have their own tools they like to use and the customers who were doing their own dog door installations also had their own tools including drill bits sets. Therefore, to conserve resources and prevent unnecessary waste, we have decided to discontinue including drill bits in our installation packets. You may still see installation instructions that say it is included until we use up our supply of installation booklets but we will be updating our instructions soon. If you would like some drill bits to have on hand, please send us an email at info@halepetdoor.com or give us a call at 719-269-7400 and we will be happy to send you a supply to have on hand for your customers or installers.

Newest Dealer Dashboard Updates – Open Carts Tab

shutterstock_1848068845As promised in the last dealer dashboard blog update, we are continuing our improvements and additions to your dashboard and account access.  Some time ago we added a new tab for “Open Carts” to your account so you can easily get quotes for your customers and keep track of orders that have not yet been placed. In the past, you have had to call into the office to access your open carts for incomplete orders but now you can easily access any of these anytime you want to.  Many of you have been using this feature for several months now but there have recently been some questions and some dealers who didn’t even realize it was an available feature so we have put together a webpage with detailed information about how the open carts page works.

Standard Security Barrier Hiatus

Hale Pet Door has been proud to offer our line of security products, ramps, and more for many years to complement our pet doors. However, we are facing unprecedented challenges in receiving materials from some of our suppliers due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This has led to materials shortages, greatly increased supplies and shipping costs, and extremely long lead times for our customers and dealers when placing orders.

Instead of passing on these increased costs to our customers, causing greater frustration due to not receiving products ordered in a timely manner, or settling for building our products with inferior materials, we have made the decision to temporarily discontinue selling our standard doghouse style barriers at this time. You can still purchase a simple security barrier if you need extra protection for accessing your pet door. However, the cedar facade for these barriers will not be available for the foreseeable future as well.

We will revisit this issue in the future and hopefully bring back the entire security barrier line when supply chains are more stable. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about your pet door security, please feel free to contact us at info@halepetdoor.com and we will try to assist you with your unique situation.

An Announcement from the Hale Family

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Bill Hale. He was the father of three, the grandfather of 8, and the founder, inventor and owner of Hale Pet Door. 

Bill passed away peacefully in his bed on May 18th, surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren.

We will cherish his ideals and his dedication to life. He will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his tenaciousness, his creativity, and his ability to always problem-solve. His innovative mind created jobs for many people, and he has left behind a wonderful business that will continue to make pets happy around the world, both through the products themselves, and through his extensive work with pet rescue.

The Hale family has not set a date for services, due to the constraints of Covid. We will be keeping friends and family informed as the plans become more firm. 

We thank you all for your sympathies and your continued support of this big project called Hale Pet Door. Each person who has been a part of our story was special to our Dad.

Dealer Dashboard Update

We are excited to announce to all our dealers that we are updating the dealer dashboard on our website not only to comply with current internet security standards but to give you the ability to personalize it for you.  

Each of our dealers now has the capability of customizing the content on “My Dashboard” to your own preferences, with what helps you the most or what you access the most often.  We will be deploying this change on Wednesday evening, January 20, 2021, so if you are attempting to access the dashboard during that time you may have some difficulties.  

To prepare you for this change and to provide you with a handy reference tool for future use, we have built a webpage with instructions for how to navigate and manage the new dashboard as well as screenshots giving you examples of what it will look like.

New Feature Added to Our Website to Help Customers and Dealers

Hale Pet Door is pleased to announce that we have added a new feature to our website that we hope will help both our customers and our dealers.  We have added a ZIP code search functionality which will enable customers to better find the dealers who are closest to their area and provide the services they are looking for.

There is nothing more frustrating as a customer than calling around to different dealers only to find they don’t come to your area or they don’t offer the type of services you need.  There is nothing more frustrating to a dealer than spending time answering phone calls and questions from potential customers who are outside of your service area or who need a type of installation that you don’t provide.  With this new feature we hope to alleviate those problems as much as possible and save everyone time and frustration.

To make this feature work as well as possible for everyone we are asking for a little help from our dealers.  We have all the dealers currently set to a default service area with a radius of 50 miles.  However, some dealers service more, some less.  And some dealers cover entire states or regions.  We also have dealers who do all types of installations but some who only do in glass or only do screens or only install if you purchase a people door from them as well, etc.  All these things can be quickly communicated to potential customers upfront now to give our dealers better-qualified leads.

To assist us in making your listing on our website as accurate as possible, we have created a form that you can quickly fill out online and automatically submit to us.  Then we will take that information and update your listing on our website.  

Please visit the online form and answer the 11 short questions regarding your company and your service area and installation types.  Once you hit submit it will automatically send it to us and we will update your listing on our website.

Getting Custom Size Pricing Quotes For Your Customers

Hale Pet Door prides itself on having 12 standard sizes that work for the majority of installations and pets but, we also realize that there are many situations where a custom size pet door is an absolute necessity. Therefore, we are always happy to provide you with custom sizing of pet doors as required for your jobs. We also realize that custom size orders take a bit more effort so we have tried to streamline the process as much as possible for our dealers. We provide tools for you to be able to get quotes quickly and easily for your customers even if you are on the job site doing a custom measurement visit.

We have created a PDF file that can be easily accessed either through the dealer dashboard info tab or directly from the public custom size pet door page in our products section.

This PDF contains information about when you might need to consider a custom size pet door, how to measure for a custom size depending on if you are dealing with a rough opening, a tip to tip measurement, and whether you are measuring for a new pet door or an existing opening. It also contains two price charts for custom sizes based on the number of square inches either for the rough opening or the tip-to-tip.

While the price charts only list the prices for door and wall models in the PDF itself, the first column lists the size equivalent which you can use to look up pricing on our website for any model we offer. The only exception to this would be for oversize giant measurements, in which case, you will need to call or email us for assistance.

As a convenience we are providing a direct link to our custom orders page and to the custom orders PDF. You may wish to bookmark these links to make them easy to find when you are on the job site or talking to a customer.

Once you have the quote and wish to place the order, you can order the same way as you would for a standard pet door. Choose the equivalent size pet door for the product you are ordering. Add it to your cart and then add a comment with the custom size information required for your order. Make sure you label your measurements with width and height and specify what type of measurement they are: rough opening, tip to tip, flap size, etc.

Of course, we will still be available to help you with any quotes you need by phone or by email but starting with the webpage and PDF may be an advantage. To fulfill state mandated COVID-19 regulations we are rotating staff, working from home or staying home with any symptoms as a precautionary measure. This may cause a significant delay in our response times due to the current backlog of orders and our high customer volume. Manufacturing Reopening

2TG08035Due to COVID-19 our factory operations were temporarily interrupted. The Governor of Colorado has issued a new Safer at Home Order so Hale Pet Door’s manufacturing facility is reopening 4/27/2020 with extended hours and producing all orders from oldest to newest. Your order will be processed as quickly as possible in the order it is received. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to manufacture and ship out the backlog of orders.

Temporary Factory Closure for COVID-19 Safety

ALERT – In the interest of public health and pursuant to the Executive Order #D2020017 by the Governor of Colorado for a statewide Stay At Home Order, Hale Pet Door’s manufacturing plant is closed until April 27, 2020.

We do have some limited ability to answer phone calls but if you cannot get through right away, please be patient. If you are placing an order, the office will process it promptly and fulfill them in the order we received them when the factory returns to work.
